Tapping chucks for synchronisation

On modern CNC machines, threads can be produced without a compensating chuck in synchronous feed, also called "rigid tapping".The main purpose of synchronous tapping (without a compensating chuck) is to simplify the programming of tapping and to extend the tool life. A perfect synchronisation between the spindle and the feed allows the definition of the pitch and ensures the guidance of the tap, which is firmly clamped in a tool holder.
Due to the backlash of the spindle, the tap or tap former is loaded on one side. This can result in reduced tool life and quality defects of the thread surface produced.
